Good socialisation teaches a puppy that people, animals, sounds and surfaces can be safe and predictable. One calm encounter with choice is more useful than ten experiences the puppy merely endures.
Start small
Primary socialisation starts at the breeder and the sensitive early period ends at roughly nine to fourteen weeks, depending on the puppy. Let your puppy watch from a distance where they can still eat, sniff and respond to you. Reward calm observation and move away if the puppy freezes, refuses food or tries to escape.
Quality and recovery
Plan one small new experience, keep it brief and follow it with sleep. Controlled contact with healthy vaccinated dogs can balance development and infection prevention; discuss local risk with your vet. Do not wait until every vaccination is complete while providing no safe exposure at all.
