Vaccinations protect dogs against serious infectious diseases. The exact schedule can differ by veterinarian, vaccine brand and individual risk, but puppies usually receive a series of vaccinations before moving to adult boosters.
Puppy vaccinations
A puppy often receives the first vaccination while still with the breeder, followed by further vaccinations after moving home. Check the EU pet passport at collection and book your own vet appointment soon after. Your vet will confirm what has been given and what is still needed.
Core and lifestyle vaccines
Core protection commonly covers serious diseases such as distemper, parvo and infectious hepatitis. Other vaccines depend on lifestyle, travel, kennels, shows or local risk. Dogs that travel abroad need rabies vaccination and correct passport entries.
Titre testing
For some diseases, a blood test can measure whether protection is still present. This is called titre testing. It can help avoid unnecessary boosters, but it does not replace every vaccine or every situation. Discuss it with your vet instead of guessing.
When buying a puppy, never accept vague vaccination claims. The passport should clearly match the dog and show dates, vaccine labels and veterinary stamps.
