Toy Poodle for sale in the Netherlands

The Toy Poodle is the smallest recognised Poodle variety: intelligent, lively and fully canine. Its size makes knees, teeth and skull more vulnerable, so avoid unrecognised “teacup” extremes and require complete health documentation.

Small body, full behaviour

Toy Poodles are bright playful dogs that enjoy training and exploring. Do not carry them everywhere: normal walking, sniffing and carefully managed social contact build confidence and muscle. Reward calm behaviour and teach time alone gradually. Fine bones require thoughtful interaction with children, yet constant protection can itself reinforce fear and barking. Provide choice and treat the dog as a learner rather than an accessory.

Coat and daily care

The growing curl mats unless combed to the skin several times each week, and professional clipping remains necessary with a short style. Brush teeth daily and check ears, nails and knees. Safe steps can reduce repeated high jumps while ordinary walks and mental work should still happen every day. Low shedding cannot guarantee an allergy-safe dog, so never purchase solely on that promise.

Health and purchase

Patellar luxation, inherited eye disease, dental problems and occasionally fragile airways or open fontanel require attention. The Dutch Poodle Club uses patella and ECVO examinations plus DNA testing for relevant PRA variants. Review original results and family information about seizures, heart disease and longevity. “Tiny toy”, “micro” and “teacup” are not recognised varieties. Selecting ever smaller dogs increases fractures, neurological and birth problems. Choose normal proportions over minimum weight.
