French Bulldog for sale in the Netherlands
The French Bulldog is a compact companion whose extreme short muzzle can restrict breathing, cooling, eyes, spine and natural birth. Dutch law makes functional health—not breed type—the first buying criterion.

Temperament and daily care
French Bulldogs are often affectionate, playful companions that seek close contact and may struggle with too little attention. Friendly, clear rules, gradual solitude practice and calm socialisation are important because they can also be persistent. A compact body still needs daily walks and weight control. Reluctance to move, noisy breathing or slow recovery is not a normal breed trait. It can reflect physical restriction and should be assessed by a veterinarian.
Breathing, heat and movement
Facial and tail folds need regular inspection and must remain clean and dry. The shortened airway impairs cooling, making heat and humidity particularly dangerous. Exercise only at cool times, use a harness and stop before distress. Most French Bulldogs are poor swimmers because of their build and require close protection near water. Snoring, gagging, blue gums or respiratory effort while awake are not normal breed quirks.
Health, Dutch law and purchase
BOAS, atopic skin disease, malformed vertebrae and intervertebral disc disease are major Dutch concerns. Both parents of a Dutch-bred litter must satisfy the six legal short-muzzle criteria for resting respiration, nostrils, muzzle ratio, nose fold, visible sclera and eyelid closure. LICG states that the FCI muzzle guidance conflicts with the Dutch limit, so a pedigree alone does not prove suitability. Ask for the veterinary declaration and reject breeding animals that required airway surgery.
