Natural short tail
Some puppies are born with a short or absent tail. Review pedigree and breeding records so docking is not concealed and have spine, continence and gait assessed. Brush weekly and inspect ears, feet and ticks. Increase hard exercise gradually and maintain lean weight.
Health and choosing a breeder
There is no recognised Dutch breed club. Request official hip and ECVO results and family information on elbows, epilepsy, heart, gastric torsion and tail or spinal problems. Verify French FCI ancestry and inbreeding. Choose natural reproduction, complete function and long-lived working lines over the shortest possible tail or rare colour.
