This Braque searches widely, points game and enjoys close partnership. Long daily exercise, hunting training and varied scent work are essential. Train through rewards and calm consistency. Force fits its sensitive bond poorly. Recall and quiet waiting around wildlife must be developed from puppyhood.
Field care and condition
Brush weekly and inspect drop ears, feet, eyes and ticks after outdoor work. Keep the athlete lean and delay sustained running until physical maturity. Schedule recovery after hard work and manage meals to reduce gastric torsion risk. A garden alone does not meet its needs.
Health and choosing a breeder
There is no recognised Dutch breed club. Request official hip and ECVO results and family records on elbows, epilepsy, heart, kidneys and gastric torsion. Verify French ancestry, inbreeding and working longevity. A rare litter does not excuse missing documents. Choose free movement and stable gentle parents over colour or field performance.
