Boston Terrier for sale in the Netherlands
The Boston Terrier is a compact lively American companion, but its short muzzle and prominent eyes can restrict breathing, cooling and eye health. Functional conformation and documented screening matter more than a characteristically round head.

Companion temperament
Boston Terriers are often cheerful, people-oriented dogs that enjoy play and close family life. They respond well to rewards and may withdraw under physical pressure. Build time alone gradually and supervise play with children. Distinguish relaxed calm from avoiding activity because of breathlessness. Snoring, gagging, sleep disruption or prolonged recovery after light exercise are signs for veterinary assessment, not amusing breed behaviour.
Breathing, eyes and exercise
The short coat is simple to maintain, but inspect skin, nose fold and exposed eyes every day. Use a harness, keep the dog lean and walk during cool periods in warm weather. Stop before respiratory distress and protect the dog around water because the compact build may impair swimming. Several controlled walks and games are safer than sustained running in heat. Eye pain or inability to close the lids requires prompt care.
Health, Dutch rules and purchase
BOAS, corneal injury, poor eyelid closure, patellar luxation, deafness, spinal abnormalities and difficult birth occur. Dutch breeding dogs must satisfy the legal short-muzzle criteria. Breed rules also cover patella and brachycephalic eye examinations and exclude animals after surgery to eyes, nose fold or upper airways. Ask for both veterinary declarations and BAER hearing results where relevant. Choose open nostrils, a distinct muzzle and quiet breathing over a flat face.
