Company without dependence
Bolognese are strongly people-oriented and often adaptable, making gradual solitude training especially important. Reward independent settling and avoid constant carrying. Short positive lessons, daily walks and nose games keep the small dog physically and mentally active. Children must interact respectfully with the dog on the floor.
Coat, eyes and teeth
Comb the white coat in layers to the skin several times weekly, especially behind ears and around armpits and groin. A practical trim may support welfare. Keep hair clear of eyes, brush teeth daily and monitor nails and weight. Jumping from high furniture strains small knees. Use safe steps without withholding normal movement.
Health and choosing a breeder
Dutch clubs require patella examination. One also mandates ECVO eyes while the other advises it. Request both original results and discuss heart disease, Legg-Calvé-Perthes, teeth and family longevity. Reject extremely small “teacup” marketing. Meet a parent and choose free movement, open behaviour and a normal muzzle over miniature size or show coat.
