Persian for sale in the Netherlands
The Persian is a calm long-haired cat requiring intensive daily coat care. Choose only a functional head with free breathing and protected eyes. An extremely flat face is a welfare problem, not desirable type.

Temperament and hidden discomfort
Persians are often described as quiet and gentle and may prefer predictable routines to constant activity. Every cat still needs play, choice and individual boundaries. Very low activity can also reflect breathlessness, pain or obesity and must not automatically be labelled breed character. Offer brief daily hunting sessions and accessible resting places, and ask a veterinarian to assess noisy breathing, poor appetite, eye discomfort or withdrawal.
Daily coat and facial care
The long dense coat needs careful daily combing to the skin, especially around armpits, belly and hindquarters. Mats pull painfully and can hide inflammation. Severe tangles need professional help rather than force. Check eyes, facial folds, mouth and rear every day and introduce cooperative grooming during kittenhood. A buyer unable to provide this routine should choose another breed. Repeated tear staining or inability to close the eyes is not merely cosmetic.
Health, Dutch law and purchase
PKD, BOAS, eye damage, dental disease and difficult birth are major concerns. HCM, hip dysplasia and patellar luxation also occur. Dutch law prohibits breeding cats with a harmfully short muzzle. Ask for PKD DNA or kidney ultrasound, appropriate cardiac assessment, fully closing eyelids, quiet free breathing and natural reproduction. Reject “peke-face” animals and persistent snuffling, inspect both parents awake and moving and verify every claimed result.
