No fixed breed profile
Weight, coat, activity and character cannot be predicted reliably from one label for a crossbred or non-pedigree cat. Look at the individual, both known parents, early socialisation and behaviour in the current environment. A shelter or rescue can often explain which stimuli, children or animals are suitable. Choose curiosity and recovery after stress over colour, size or an assumed breed.
Individual care
Every cat needs suitable food, several clean litter trays, scratching and climbing, daily play, preventive care and registered microchipping. Long hair needs more combing and a very active cat needs more hunting games. Have eyes, breathing, teeth, heart, skin, joints and body condition checked. Harmful features such as an extreme short muzzle, short legs, folded ears or non-functional coat remain harmful without a pedigree.
Health and acquisition
Broader ancestry may reduce some recessive risks but does not make a cat automatically healthy. Ask about disease, age and temperament of parents and littermates, vaccination, parasite control, microchip, transfer age and independent veterinary examination. Be critical of designer labels and unverifiable DNA percentages. A transparent return agreement, realistic behaviour information and a fit with your time, space and budget matter more than a fashionable cross name.
