Character and company
Foreign Whites belong to the Siamese family and are usually distinctly people-oriented, active and vocal. They follow household activity, learn quickly and may struggle with long, routine isolation. Provide a compatible companion, several short play and training periods and high retreats. Not every cat wants constant handling. Teach children to respect voice and body language and always allow a quiet exit.
White coat and hearing
Dominant white can conceal congenital deafness in one or both ears, even when a kitten seems responsive. Request an individual BAER or OAE certificate linked to microchip and veterinary records. Clapping or household noise is not a reliable hearing test. Protect white skin and ears from strong sun and keep a deaf cat in a secure environment only.
Health and choosing a breeder
Beyond hearing, Siamese family risks such as PRA, hepatic amyloidosis, HCM and dental disease matter. Ask for suitable PRA DNA and eye results, repeated heart ultrasound and information about liver disease or sudden death among relatives. A BAER-clear cat can still develop other disorders. Choose a functional, not excessively elongated body, stable behaviour and transparent ancestry over the whitest coat or deepest eye colour.
